Sue Rowsell is a Brisbane-based artist and architect who has been painting and drawing since childhood. After 20 years managing her own Architectural practice, Sue decided to take a career break to pursue her painting practice more seriously. She has been painting full-time from her Brisbane based studio for the past 6 years. She works predominantly with oils, with an interest in capturing elements of the natural world around her.
Sue paints a range of subjects but her main focus is on botanical still life compositions. Sue’s still life works draw inspiration from beauty she sees in the natural world around her. She composes floral arrangements to paint in her home studio, and simply invites the viewer to share the joy she finds in nature.
Sue continues to learn the art of painting by attending workshops, programs and other opportunities as they arise. In 2018 she was selected as ‘Artist in Residence” at Chateau d’Orquevaux’, Champagne-Ardenne, France.
